Where are you and where are you going?
How do we inspire confidence in a space?
How can we make sure people enjoy
the journey as well as the destination?
Good wayfinding is the art of empowering people
to move through a space with ease and comfort.
It gives people the confidence to navigate complex
places without difficulty or distraction.
Our process
We understand the subtle power of wayfinding
Wayfinding is a unique way of thinking about space. The end user is always at the front of our minds – how do we want them to move about the space? Where are the decision-making points in the building? How should it feel to be here?
Seven miles of galleries for the V&A
Signs at the thresholds between spaces reassured visitors they were on track.
We are passionate about creating places with purpose
Wayfinding shouldn’t shout, obstruct, nor plaster the walls with signs – we work around the soul of the building.
A collaboration between people and place
We approach every project with that same collaborative ethos, following three core principles. Wayfinding has to be coherent, clear, and consistent – this is key to understanding.
Wayfinding for the new creative frontier at Here East
For London’s 1.2 million sq ft tech campus, our memorable system uses the language of electronic circuitry.
We are wayfinding specialists
While we often work on wayfinding for projects where we have previously created the brand, our wayfinding practice also stands alone – we are known for our specialist expertise.
Our wayfinding work stretches across three areas: cultural, commercial and corporate spaces – and we embed ourselves in every project.
Nearly 1,000 signs to unify Schroders
As this global investment firm combined London offices into one, our wayfinding brought a common thread to complex spaces.
A custom family of signs
For every project we design a coherent family of signs that address the needs of the space and its occupants, placing them in the right locations for people’s needs at any time.
Hardworking and harmonious designs
Signs aren’t just a practical consideration, but deeply reflected in the building’s atmosphere and feeling of openness and welcome. We consider shapes, colours, materials, typography and scale, as well as ergonomics, accessibility, and listed building restrictions – we know that successful designs can define a place for generations
Success is when it flows
Regardless of the project, our favourite moment is probably after the space has opened – that’s when we know that our work has been successful, when we can watch people move through the building in a natural and comfortable way.
